Kenya has seemingly become increasingly more unstable politically. Political violence has emerged in the most violent manner since 1992. Although Kenya had not been quite a stable state since independence in 1963, the weakly nature of our state was tested heavily in 2007/08 violence. Specific events in 1965, 1966, 1969, 1971, 1975, 1976-78, 1982, 1990, etc showed Kenya Government State Building methodology was simply a failure. In 2007/08 Post-Election Violence (PEV) episode, it was clear that the situation was bad and Kenya’s political and democratic practices needed major overhaul. The Grand Coalition as well as the Jubilee Administration failed to address the Kenyan Political Problem. Instead, the two post-2007/08 Administrations went ahead to rally the country around personalities- Kibaki, Raila and now Uhuru and Ruto. This can only serve segments of society and only for very short-term political expediencies. A political catastrophe still hangs a bad cloud on Kenya. The failure was hinged on the fact that the leaders have only been attempting to build a united country around personalities instead of building a united state within the context of the rule of law, respect of our multiculturalism and constitutionality. To-date, political violence in Kenya has claimed more than 20,000 lives, displace more than 10million Kenyans, and cost the economy billions of dollars (trillions of Ksh.). Political instability costs of GDP more than 2%.
The Good Governance Team shall propose 15 measures to address political instability in Kenya. These measures will guarantee Kenya greatest stability and create prosperity unseen anywhere in Africa. Kenyans shall not cut the throats of others on account of political or politico/ethnic differences. All ethnic groups shall secure unsurpassed levels of rights of equality politically, economically and socially. Kenyans shall be able to live in comfort as brethren.
